Cancer Awareness

How can we help? How can we serve for the betterment of mankind?

Top Left Photo:  Monique Rail (left) / Cherin McKend, President (right)

Two of our beloved co-workers are living with cancer and cancer treatments…

On Monday March 21st, 2022,  my co-worker Monique Rail and I had a date with Julie at Holiday Curls in Brockville to cut our treasured locks as a donation to “ Hair Donation Ottawa”.  Hair Donation Ottawa works in conjunction with CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario) to supply wigs for children with cancer. It takes approximately 15-20 ponytails and ~$2000 to create a wig. Children’s wigs require special care so they can withstand sports, including swimming and other rigorous children’s activities. These wigs are given to the children at no charge.

We had a lot of fun cutting our hair for the donation and are pleased to announce that we raised $3185 in one week towards the wig creations.

Love,
Cherin and Monique

Cell Guidance Systems – ExoLISA™ - Rapid and Targeted Detection of Exosome Markers

ExoLISA assays have been developed to measure the abundance of CD9, CD63 and CD81 protein specifically associated with exosomes in biofluids. By using the same antibody for capture and detection, these assays only detect proteins as part of an exosome complex whilst preventing non-specific binding. The quick and simple 4-step protocol can be completed in 4 hours whilst provinding clear and consistent results.

PROMOTION

MJS BioLynx – We've Got Great Lectins for Your Cancer Research!

Changes in glycosylation patterns of specific proteins were one of the first biomarkers of cancer. They are still regularly used as a diagnostic tool and to assess the patient prognosis and response to treatment.

Examples of such glycoproteins include CEA, MUC1, MUC16 and prostate-specific antigen (PSA). Glyco-selective lectins have proven a useful tool for the identification of novel PSA biomarkers.

Below are two articles discussing Lectins and their use in Cancer Research:
