- The PERK™ (Protein Expression Rescue Kit) was designed to provide the researcher with a tool for determining the best available culture conditions for the production of recombinant proteins in Escherichia coli. Experience has shown that the accumulation of a given protein in the cytoplasm is dependent upon several factors. These include the host strain, the composition of the medium and the incubation conditions used. In the course of optimizing the production of recombinant proteins for clients, Athena’s scientists have developed an algorithm that was specifically designed to maximize the accumulation of recombinant proteins expressed in E. coli.
